Tasha Thomas is the prototypical story of how
disco divas found their way to the spotlight. After performing background vocals for
a number of acts, she scored a deal with the small label Orbit, which released her debut,
"Shoot Me With Your Love," in 1978. After the track blew up she got signed
to Atlantic. She struck it big with her Midnight Rendezvous LP in
1979. It featured the aforementioned hit "Shoot Me With Your Love" plus
"Hot Buttered Boogie" and the title tune. Thomas died from cancer on
November 8, 1984. Tasha Thomas' Deepest Groove Midnight Rendezvous (Atlantic, 1979) Copyright 2001 B. Graff. All rights reserved. |
