Helping to push the underground dance sound of funk-infused house into the future is the British outfit Schmoov, whose members are Andrew Tytherleigh, Andre Bonsor and John Buckby. They made their debut with the "Destination" EP for DIY Records, noted for its application of live instrumentation within a mellow house framework. The song was included on the Hi-Fidelity Lounge Volume 2 disc on Guidance Records and a remix found its way onto the Groove Armada compilation Back to Mine, which increased their profile. They continued to hone their sound on the subsequent singles "Chicken Grease" and "Kiss It" on Paper Recordings, while also working at developing their live act. The most recent outing, "Wrong Turning," may prove to be their most popular cut yet.
