A Little Bit of Jazz

Straker is the British musician most famous for the club classic "A Little Bit of Jazz."   Though his interests were in fusion, his first first hit was the dance-pop energy of "A Walk in the Park,"
released in 1979.  The success was unexpected, and as a result there was not enough material for an LP until the next year.  Buried on the debut album was "A Little Bit of Jazz," an even stronger cut than "Park," but Prelude ended up securing the rights to the song and made it the cornerstone of their self-titled LP.  "Jazz" made the top 40 in 1981 and is one of Prelude's best-loved records.  "Straight Ahead" made a slight impact in 1983 but by then the group was on its way out, with members Tony Mansfield, Tony Hibbert and Phil Towner forming a band called New Musik.

After the breakup of the group, Straker worked with a variety of reggae and pop artists.   You can check up on Nick's current activities at www.nickstraker.com.
