Prominent session musician Jerry Knight was an original member of Raydio, performing lead vocals on their hits "Jack and Jill" and "You Can't Change That." He left the band in 1980, when Ray Parker, Jr. began asserting more control over the group. Signing with A&M Records, he charted two top 20 singles in under a year: "Overnight Sensation" and "Perfect Fit," the former a rare disco classic. His relationship with A&M lasted until 1983, when disappointing LP sales led to a parting of ways. He bounced back by forming the duo Ollie and Jerry, with drummer Ollie Brown. Their debut single "There's No Stopping Us" was featured in the movie Breakin' and was his biggest hit, reaching the top five in 1984. He then turned to outside production work (Patrice Rushen, Jermaine Stewart, Natalie Cole) and remains a popular session player.
