Mel Bolton and Marilyn McCleod were the creative braintrust behind the Flakes, a one shot act from the late disco daze. They produced the act with assistance from mixers Jimmy Simpson and Rick Gianatos and achieved immortality with "Sugar Frosted Lover," a lightweight lyric transformed by spine-tingling vocals into a tour de force of dance nirvana. Soon after, they vanished from sight.
