Joseph was the lead singer of Hi-Tension, one of the preeminent British jazz/funk acts of the 70s, hitting with "British Hustle" and "There's A Reason." As a solo artist, Joseph is best remembered for "You Can't Hide Your Love," a midtempo affair with an insistent keyboard hook that was remixed by Larry Levan. Like most of Levan's mixes, the song became a favorite at the Paradise Garage, and eventually cracked the bottom rung of the charts in early 1983. Joseph's next and final chart hit in the States was "Let's Live It Up," which peaked at #84. Regarded as a pioneer in the UK, he continued to record there for a number of years after his American success.
