Brandye was a trio best
known for providing the backing vocals for Millie Jackson (“A Moment’s
Pleasure”), James Brown (“Too
Funky In Here”), and Dennis Coffey (“Our Love Goes On”). The members were
Donna Davis, Cynthia Douglas and Pam Vincent and they seemed to do the
bulk of their work on Brad Shapiro productions. In the disco craze, when so
many session singers had ample chances for work, they got their own deal
and recorded Crossover To Brandye. The album didn’t generate any
chart hits, but is respected among soul collectors for the underground
dance groove “Rhythm Of Love” and
“Curiosity.” Crossover To Brandye (Kayvette, 1978) Copyright ©2008 AllThingsDeep.com. All rights reserved. |
