Stay Together

Barbara Tucker looked set to explode on the dance scene and take her rightful place among the divas in the mid 90s.  She had promoted the legendary Underground Network weeklies in New York that featured Lil Louie Vega and a parade of guest stars.  Her debut single "Beautiful People" was released on Strictly Rhythm to a fantastic response among garage fans.  Uplifting lyrics, gospelly chords and Vega's customary dance-inspiring beats made the song an instant classic.  "I Get Lifted" and "Stay Together," fortified with mixes from Armand Van Helden and Frankie Feliciano, built the anticipation for a full-length to a fever pitch.  Both the label and Tucker promised one would be forthcoming.

That was in 1996.

There were one-off singles, like "Peg" on Hospital Records, her vocal rendition of DJ Pierre's "Horn Song" (retitled "Everybody Dance"), and a hit duet with Daryl B'bourneau, "Stop Messing With My Mind," but there's still no LP on the horizon.
